Our coaching staff are highly trained in martial arts and have the ability to effectively communicate their knowledge and expertise to all students. All of our Senior Instructors are former internationalists themselves and have coached students to win at local, national and international level.
The Sakai Karate Association’s Chief Instructor is Sensei David Coulter MBE, 7th Dan. Sensei Coulter is one of the Senior Coach’s for the Scottish Karate Governing Bodies National Team. Our Assistant Chief Instructor is Mr Kris Coulter, 5th Dan. Kris is one of the Scottish Karate Governing Bodies Youth Development Team Coach’s and Richard Mallinson, 4th Dan is the Youth Development Director for Sport Karate East in Dundee and Angus.
Sensei David Coulter is called "the quiet man of karate" he does all his talking through the world class athletes he inspires and produces, generation after generation. Sensei Coulter has been my life long mentor and I feel truly blessed to know the karate legend that is Sensei Coulter – Richard Mallinson, 4th Dan
Sensei Coulter was himself a phenomenal athlete, winning Two World Championship Team Titles, Two Individual European Championship Titles, Seven National Team Titles, Four Individual National Championships and Captained the Scottish Team for many years. The Sakai organisation has over the years produced numerous excellent athletes who have represented Scotland and Great Britain and this continues to be one of our association’s strategic objects.
Scottish Karate Governing Body National Kata Coach joins our coaching staff here in Dundee
It is with great pleasure that SPORT KARATE EAST can announce that Mark Marshall, 4th Dan has joined our coaching staff here in Dundee.
Mark is a former KATA Internationalist who represented Scotland at both European and World level. The former Scottish and British Kata Champion brings over 30 years of knowledge and experience to our coaching staff here in Dundee.
