The Benefits of Karate

Physical Exercise
If you want physical exercise we will help you master techniques that develop control, poise and flexibility in all parts of the body, which in turn relieves stress and fatigue. Karate has a great effect on the growth and development of our young people. It’s an effective fitness program for adults as well.

Physical and Mental Balance
If you want a physical and mental balance we will help you master and control aggression, violence, frustration and shyness. Karate is also a therapeutic discipline supported by the World Health Organisation [WHO]. When training the coordination of movements allow a major improvement of the individuals’ basic motor capacity,

Concentration and Academic Performance
The Sport Karate East lessons may help people study. Concentration is definitely improved by Karate training. The traditional drills are a set of prescribed movements against an imaginary opponent; this is a lesson in self-control and concentration.

As an education tool Karate not only improves a person’s physical well being but his or her mental state as well. Karate teaches the art of self-perfection and the virtue of human life. At Sport Karate East we teach our students to have respect for their coaches, senior students, classmates and themselves.

Positive Attitude
If you want a positive attitude we will help you master the art of self perfection and the virtue of human life. Central to this theme is the cultivation of a positive “can do” attitude. As an educational tool Karate not only improves a person’s physical well being but his or her mental state as well. At Sport Karate East we teach our students to have respect for their coaches, senior students, classmates and themselves. Along with the physical techniques of Karate, the central theme in the teaching of Karate is the development and cultivation of good character.

Rejection of Violence
Practising Karate we learn to control our strength. This sport penalises excessive contact. Violence is not part of Karate. Being aware of our strength as well as managing to control it, alongside values such as respect towards the opponent, makes Karate a suitable sport in social reintegration programmes.

Modern Sport
You may already be aware Karate is an ancient martial art that originated in Japan. What you may not be aware of is that Karate is one of the most complete sports a person can participate in. So if you are looking for a modern sport we will help you master graceful techniques which have explosive power, requiring control and accuracy. This combined with fast action makes karate an awesome sport to participate in as well as a spectacular activity to watch.

Karate, with the introduction of new rules and protective equipment, has grown into a safe and popular international sport. There are now more than 50 million people worldwide participating in this activity.

Diffusing Bullies
A bully usually has low self-esteem and a need to feel powerful, thus they seek out others weaker than themselves. Karate, contrary to popular thinking, does not prepare people for a showdown rather it short circuits the bully-baiting signals. In most cases the bully is defeated, not by combat, but by the martial artist's calm and confident demeanour. Some people are concerned that Karate promotes violence. According to recent psychology studies however, just the opposite occurs. We teach our students to have better control of their reactionary impulses and to only resort to physical interaction when all other options have been negated, utilising their training only as a form of self-defence.

Self Discipline
The emphasis in Karate training is on mastering defence techniques; this comes from the Karate thinking of respecting peace and justice. The Karate philosophy is to practice self-discipline and never to attack but to defend oneself.

Personal Safety
Karate is a complete physical program with benefits for both young people and adults alike, regardless of gender. It teaches self discipline and builds confidence as violence is not part of Karate. Karate regularly generates a high degree of personal safety; this is particularly relevant for young ladies and women. Karate lifts the spirit and stimulates the mind.
