Sport Karate Sakai

Sport Karate East is affiliated to the Sport Karate Sakai Association, this association in turn is a full member of the Scottish Karate Governing Body.

Scottish Karate Governing Body

The Scottish Karate Governing Body (SKGB) is made up of the various Karate associations in Scotland. Their goals are, among others, to standardise Karate coaching in Scotland, to increase Scottish rankings in the European Karate Federation (EKF) and the World Karate Federation (WKF) and also to improve the standard of Karate referees and officials within Scotland. The SKGB are the only karate governing body recognised by Sportscotland.

European Karate Federation

The European Karate Federation (EKF) was founded in 1963 and is composed of the National Karate Federations of most European Nations. EKF is a member of the World Karate Federation (WKF), and is recognised by it as its only representative in Europe. The EKF has the aim of promoting, organising, regulating and popularising the sport of karate

World Karate Federation

The World Karate Federation ( WKF) is the international governing body of the sport of karate. It is the only karate federation recognised by the International Olympic Committee, and it has more than ten million affiliates and over fifty million participants.

Shitoryu Karate Do Cyber Academy

The Shito-ryu Karate Cyber Academy provides invaluable information in relation to Shito-ryu and Shukokai Karate. The Shito-ryu style originated from an Okinawan contemporary of Funakoshi, named Kenwa Mabuni. It uses both straight-line and circular movements. Its training syllabus contains the largest number of katas of any style. The Shukokai curriculum was developed from Mabuni’s Shito-ryu style by his senior student, Chojiro Tani. It contains many interesting ideas about power development.
